eric is definately swedens most interesting and skillful producer when it comes to underground deep house and soulful techno. eric ericksson released his first single in 96 with several releases since then on respected labels, both indie and major. at age 18, he released a single on derrick mays label fragile, alongside artists such as carl craig and laurent garnier. later the same year he, as part of the duo minimalisterna, released a full-length album on virgin records. in 2011 the ep someone is watching was released on carl craigs planet e communications. as co-founder of kass recordings he released the work of some of the top artists on the swedish scene, such as zoo brazil and style of eye. in 2009 he formed north beach together with daniel howe and since then they had three releases on kant recordings and played in well-respected venues in europe. his latest 12 inch vinyl love cannot was released this summer on freerange recordings.

discrete formants ii zooms the audience deep into underwater landscapes, from bizarre and seemingly endless open space down to the finest organized microcosms. five tracks full of analogue warmth and idiosyncratic modular synthesizer interaction that are driven by semantic coupling between major phases and small details. as most dscrt acoustic patterns are growing characteristic complexity by situational combination and permutation of interacting sound sets, the 300 copies of this release are double-stamped, hand numbered and pressed in blue marbled vinyl, returning each piece of them to the product of a unique moment in space and time.
jubilee for dystopian… not only the number 005 for the label, also 5 years of dystopian showcases around the world and a good working agency and label since 2012 – the dystopian guys want to say thank you with that special release. and what fits better to invite some long term guests to remix dystopian artists ?! first, we invited pär grindvik who played the second dystopian party ever in 2010 to remix the already wonderful >stone edge< by felix k. and what else to say, that one turned out into a tribal techno monster.second remixer is function – he played the every first dystopian event back in 2009 (you remember, as sandwell district live, ben klock, shed and rodhad).. so, this time it s our pleasure – and to get a good balance to the a-side, he delivered a groovy hypnotizing minimalistic tool.. you need to let i grow, but than this track getting you from behind :)

no introduction is really needed for the massive balearic anthem *jibaro*. elkin & nelsons scorching latin disco classic hit big throughout spain, south america and nycs underground club scene in 1979 when this now rare and hard-to-find disco 12 inch version originally dropped, but it gained its real cult status after being picked up and championed up by the likes of rampling, oakenfold et al who who fell in love it after hearing it played by the legendary dj afredo at ibizas amnesia club. instantly recognisable and supremely dancable, this is one of the true heavyweights of the balearic scene - and a must have for any serious record collection.
vessel no 6 is airborn and your cabin crew serves you three gems on wax, road-, air- and space- tested throughout the last six months. a1 is a straight groover with an undeniable feelgood vocal, carfully rearranged for your dj needs. first officer nebraska joint ventures the record on b1 with an emotional, ever building piece of jazz funk and reminds us once more of how the art of editing has to be approached. with so much hoopla already going on, b2 leans back, happy to strip it all down and hitting us with a break that starts, floats, and then, lucky audience, just dont stop. dont stop, dont stop, over and out.
atomium focuses on collaborations between artists. this second release from the belgian label brings out a collaboration between two berlin-based producers releasing two astonishing house tracks. pm is composed by martin teysera (herencia, cynosure, 31377 records) and philippe liedekerke aka pipo vitch (atomium, hatchwork, toys for boys). >restless<, the a-side of the ep, brings some jacking flavors and twisted spacy stabs on the dance floor. the analog synths trace the line and you just need to start the dance : a classic club track for the end of 2013. >back home<, the b-side, is led by a monster bassline that keeps the groove locked while the guitars delightly bring your brain either back on earth or on another journey. this full analog ep is definitely something to watch out. bring it on and make some noises ! tip

new kanada welcomes londons bob bhamra into the chamber, with this two-track breaker from his west norwood cassette library (wncl) guise. >say what?< is a broken sub workout, with a strong nod to the hardcore continuum. distant alarms, aggressive drums, and deep bass drops make this a floor-killer for all sound camps. >flashlight< is an aqueous solution of damp funk that will resonate the head and drop the lights. gaseous and moody. on the flip is a slow burner remix of >flashlight< by adam marshall - sitting somewhere between tired breaks and acid reggae. 11 minutes of moog.
serious basement bidness to close out the year for sound signature. the specter of christmas now returns with a coal bag of dirty acid jams and warped rhythms. thats exactly what we asked santa for anyway.
musical collisions in the atlantic! sofrito kicks off the new island series with a a celebration of the vital dancefloor sounds of cape verde - a mixture of local funana rhythms, batuque percussion and psychedelic disco synths. originally released in the early 80s, dionisio maios anthemic corpim sabe is stretched into a 12 inch mix by the alma negra collective - bringing the thumping bassline to the fore and tweaking the piano-led groove into a slice of cosmic island perfection. on the flip the dynamic hide & smile duo splice an early track from trailblazing group bulimundo into a percussive workout - a sure fire winner that bridges the gap between traditional styles and the sounds of kuduro and coupe decalÌe. os kings complete the ep with an ode to struggling youth, anchored by sweet guitars and a slick bassline
ricardo villalobos couldnt resist the siren like call of mari kvien brunvoll. the result, *everywhere you go* - celestial voice resurrection mix and amnesia rehabilitation dub - should give some proper information about some of the feelings involved here, such as does the music itself ... being nothing less than magic.

adrian niculae, also known as priku is one of bucharests finest djs and producers. after releasing for labels like arpiar and all inn he has now decided to release and produce independently. going forward, motif will feature most of his work, as well as some of his close aquaintances. acoustic is the name chosen for motif 01 and experiment is the game. similar to his last experience with arpiar, bonita mariposa is a dreamy, yet pumping track, filled with shakers and spikes that go along perfectly with the dark piano. afterhour delight or possibly an intricate starter, it could be either of them. marker keeps the piano but inserts more rhythm, more percussion, more mystery while micro house is blended with 808 rims and an addictive synth that will surely keep you...

after a remix for dasos so sexy last year, the german-peruvian artist martin patiño confirms his presence on popcorn records with an entire ep. to begin with, solid ground is born from the collaboration with astrid. we already heard them on the great hunter ep on cadenza at the beginning of the year. the result of this new featuring is an original techno track with all the good components you expect from tr707 drums to a xylophone melody, in addition to the sexy and reassuring voice of astrid. the american pezzner honored us with a particular interpretation. a deep theme, with percussions, long and subtle panpipes breathe. as if pezzner was paying tribute to martin patinos roots. finally, routinary coffes comes to conclude this warm and deep record done for the sweating parties of the upcoming winter.
nick woolfson, the man behind teng records and one half of mock & toof, follows the incredible *tunnelvision* with the *pure ep*, a mix of hypnotic rhythms and deep melodic lines, a mysterious combination for a mysterious producer. take acid house and fuse it with deep house (the real one) and nu disco and there you will find akras soul. from germany the hotly tipped rising sun drops his signature deep and emotive vibe, delivering the mindblowing rising sun melancholia mix!

during off map excursions seahawks encounter the woo tribe, legendary creators of celestial tones. via mind-meld the two groups merge and blur to create two eleven minute plus journeys that explore the outer reaches of mystic disco, warped house and psychoactive boogie. drenched in delay and smeared with hazed reflections of a thousand birds lost in a tropical jungle mist, the results leave you fazed, stunned and overflowing with euphoric intent. designed with the most creative dance floors in mind, both journeys are deep, disorientating and empowering. this release is in league with the wonderful emotional rescue label whose recent re-release of woos *whichever way you are going, you are going wrong* album has brought so much joy to the world. swim on forever.
following his breakthrough release on cult bristol label happy skulls, which carried a tearing funkineven remix, adjowa marks his second release of the year with a slamming addition to the dba dubs series. beautiful swimmers own max d (known to his friends, but perhaps not his family, as maximillion dunbar), contributes the compulsory us remix on the flip, drawing on the grime, jungle and breakbeat hardcore tropes to create a truly otherworldly banger.

since we opened our small record store in brighton we have been asked repeatedly for new garage releases on wax. this reminded us that not too much that is available at the moment which could easily fit that criteria. and as long term garage fans ourselves we are more than happy to oblige the faithful with 4 killa darkside steppers from londons buzzin 10. the beats harken back to classic uk garage but are topped off by synths that share common musical ground with detroit electro or european electronica.
